Lawrence County Highway Department
About Us
The Lawrence County Highway Department is responsible for all roads, bridges, culverts and small structures within Lawrence County that are not within the boundries of the cities of Bedford, Mitchell or the Town of Oolitic. The Highway Department has approximately 675 miles of road, in which 600 miles are asphalt and 75 miles are stone. We maintain 128 bridges, including bridges within Bedford and Mitchell city limits, and approximately 3500 culverts and small structures. The department is responsible for the maintenance of the East and South roads that border the county.
Missions Statement
To efficiently manage, maintain and construct when nessessary, the Lawrence County road and bridge systems in an effort to provide the citizens safe, convenient, and efficient movement of traffic.
