Lawrence County Sheriff Security Center

Mission Statement

The mission of the Lawrence County Security Center is to provide for the safe, secure, and humane housing of all inmates. It is our duty to maintain good order and discipline within the facility and to do so in the most cost-effective way for the inmates, the citizens we serve, and our fellow staff members.

Vision Statement

We will strive to ensure that inmates leave our custody in better condition both physically and emotionally than when they arrived. However, the decision to do so is a decision that can only be made by the inmates themselves. Our work environment will encourage input, participation and a commitment to excellence.

Lawrence County Security Center

The Lawrence County Security Center opened in 1990. The facility was originally designed to hold up to 88 inmates, but has since been modified to house 168 inmates. Staff includes 23 full-time officers and maintains a part-time officer to assist in staffing requirements. All full-time officers are required to complete a one-week Jail Academy, accredited by the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
