  • How do I report a pothole or missing sign

    • To report a pothole or a missing sign on a county road, you may submit your request under the "request road maintenace" tab or you may call the office at 812-275-2644 between the hours of 7:00 am - 3:00 pm

  • How do I report a tree blocking the roadway

    • To report a tree blocking the roadway, please call the Highway Dept. at 812-275-2644. If you should need assistance after  3:00 pm, please call the Lawrence County Sheriff's Dept at 812-275-3316.

  • How do I get a driveway culvert installed

    • If you feel that you need a driveway culvert installed/replaced, please call the department.  We will have the district foreman look at your driveway and give you a recommendation on the size of pipe needed.   Once you purchase your pipe, we will pick it up and install it for you and provide you with one load of stone to cover it.  

  • Where can I get information on a current road condition in Indiana

  • What happens if my mailbox is damaged during snow removal

    • During snowplowing, there are times when mailboxes will be knocked down.  If the mailbox or post is knocked down or damaged as a result of the force of the snow coming off the plow, the highwy department will not replace or repair it.  If there is evidence that the mailbox was damaged from  direct contact with a highway department truck or piece of equipment, we will attempt to fix the existing mailbox or replace it with a standard mailbox provided by the highway department.  In no circumstance with the highway department monetarily reimburse a resident for his/her mailbox.

  • What are speed limits in the County

    • Most county road speed limits are set at 35 mph, however, there are some roads that are posted lower such as around schools.  There are some roads that are posted higher, such as long, straight and wide road with good visibility.  Please obey the posted speed limits, as they are set to provide motorist with a speed limit that provides safe and reasonable flow of traffic.

  • How do I get a road vacated

    • Please call the department at 812-275-2644 
  • Dead Animal

    •  The department does not pick up dead animals.  In the event a deer is hit and in the road, the department will push it off the road with a plow and cover it with lime to help the decomposing process.
