The Lawrence County Health Department addresses the medical and environmental health concerns of the citizens of Lawrence County.
The LCHD is also responsible for county birth and death records (beginning with the year 1882).

Health Officer

Alan F. Smith, M.D., Lawrence County Health Officer since January 2000, has a medical degree from Indiana University and has been pathologist with rights at both Bedford hospitals since 1978. Prior to accepting the position of Health Officer, he had been a Board of Health member since May 1985.

Public Health Nurse

Mindy Hopkins, RN, Public Health Nurse for Lawrence County since January 2022, has a nursing degree from Vincennes University.  Lawrence County is excited to have her on board, as she brings a wealth of knowledge & experience with her to benefit our community.

Clinic closed from noon-1 p.m.
If you need an immunization or vital record pulled, you MUST arrive at the office by 3:15 p.m.
